In my sandwich making quest, I’ve tried a multitude of gluten free breads. This particular loaf has become my tried and tested saviour.
I get the seeded variety as it has a nutty flavour plus it ticks the ‘healthy’ box for me too.
Here’s the plus points of this bread:
- It can be eaten straight from the pack like fresh bread and doesn’t need refreshing.
- It has a light springy texture unlike some breads which are quite dense.
- It can be used cold for sandwiches or toasted.
- It comes in a specially sealed pack which gives it a longer life than most fresh bread. This also gives it some protection if you want to pack a loaf in your luggage when going away. I took three loaves with me to Florida to eat over two weeks, knowing the bread wouldn’t go off.
If you’re diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, you may be able to get your bread on prescription. I used to get Juvela Fibre Sliced Loaf which was similar to this bread. However, I stopped getting prescription bread as they came in batches of eight loaves and I had to stick them in the freezer…in a household of six, freezer space has a premium!
