During a visit to Bournemouth earlier this summer, I stayed one night at the Hotel Collingwood with my husband.
We had the pleasure of a delightful evening meal and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. As a gluten free guest, I felt able to enjoy a complete three course meal to the same standard and quality as my husband.
Dinner
There was no gluten free information on the menu so I spoke to the waiter. He asked me to to select what I would like to eat from the menu and then went to speak to the chef. The chef was very accommodating and was able to make my choice of dinner gluten free.
For starters, I had the carrot and coriander soup served with gluten free toast. For mains, I selected the salmon with hollandaise sauce, roast potatoes and vegetables. The food was delicious and cooked to a high standard.
I even had a choice of desserts. A gluten free brownie, lemon sorbet or meringue with strawberries and cream.
A full english breakfast in the morning set me up for the day ahead. Gluten free toast was served but the sausage was excluded as it wasn’t gluten free.
I’m not here to provide hotel reviews but I have to say that the Collingwood was a great find. A delightful hotel with excellent and friendly service, well presented clean rooms and good food for gluten free peeps!
The hotel restaurant is open to all, not just guests. It’s easy walking distance from the beach and the town centre.
If you’re out and about in Bournemouth or fancy more variety of food, the BH2 Leisure complex would be a safe bet to find gluten friendly food. You’ll find a lot of chain restaurants such as Prezzo, many which have gluten free options.
